Ron Brown began his broadcasting career in the Air Force, serving as a radio broadcaster in Athens, Greece and television host/reporter at Ramstein Air Base, Germany on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network. There his stories about the military won the prestigious Thomas Jefferson Award and were viewed by tens of thousands of service men and women across Europe.
Ron has produced documentaries for local television, anchored local television newscasts and reported news for radio stations, including Mississippi Public Radio and Television, National Public Radio and Chicago Public Radio station WBEZ. His long list of accomplishments includes a regional Emmy Award for television news, and a national Edward R. Murrow award in the network division for his radio news reporting on Mississippi delta kids turning their experiences into blues songs. His story on legendary blues artist B.B. King also garnered Ron Brown a national award from the Public Radio News Directors Incorporated.
